The SIMBAH team, consisting of Anisa (121190138), Dian Prasetyani Basuki (121190123), and Lu'lu' Halimatul Chasanah (121190046), students from the Chemical Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, under the guidance of Perwitasari, S.T., M.Eng., won 1st place (Saintek) at the USU National Scientific Paper 2022. The competition was held from March 19 to May 29, 2022.
Previously, the team had earned 2nd place in a similar competition, but this time they outperformed other teams with their scientific paper titled “SIMBAH: Batik Waste Sanitation Using Polyethylene Terephthalate, Moringa Oleifera, and Ferrite Magnetite Nanoparticles Integrated Through Sensor-Based Purification Method.” Their innovative approach to batik waste management, combining advanced materials and purification methods, captivated the judges and helped them secure first place, bringing pride to UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta at the national level.
USU National Scientific Paper (UNSPA) is a national scientific paper competition for undergraduate students across Indonesia. The competition focuses on optimizing science and technology to achieve the SDGs 2030 and fostering creativity and innovation among students. UNSPA is organized by the Ministry of Education, Research, and Development of the Student Government of the University of North Sumatra.
Students from the Chemical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Engineering (FTI) at the University of Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) have won 2nd place in the National Writing Competition Agricultural Food Competition Season 16, held at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. This UPNVY student team presented an innovation titled ECOWRAP: An Eco-Friendly Biodegradable Wrapping Film Based on Water Hyacinth and Corn Cobs to Extend the Shelf Life of Fruits and Vegetables.

This research is led by Dr. Heri Septya Kusuma, S.Si., M.T., together with four students: Aurelio Muhammad Saleemah Agung, Najla Anira Putri, Muhamad Shifu, and Nafisa Illiyanasafa.
