Sleman – The 2020 National Chemical Engineering Seminar (SNTKK) Webinar was held for two days, on July 14 and 15, 2020, via the Zoom Meeting platform. This event is a national seminar organized to discuss current topics in the field of chemical engineering, with a focus on the development of science and technology in the industrial sector. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the seminar was held online, allowing participants from various regions to join without needing to be physically present. The webinar featured expert speakers and was attended by students and faculty members of chemical engineering.
The SNTKK is an annual routine event held by the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, as a communication platform for researchers from higher education institutions, educational institutions, research organizations, and industries to develop chemical technologies for the processing of Indonesia's natural resources.
Initially, SNTKK 2020 was scheduled to be held in April 2020, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the seminar format changed from a face-to-face event to a webinar, and was finally held in July. Due to the high level of interest from participants, SNTKK 2020 was conducted over two days, on July 14 and 15, 2020.
The theme of SNTKK 2020 was "Development of Material Processing Technology for Increasing the Added Value of Natural Resources for National Independence and Defense." The event was officially opened by the Rector of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Dr. Muhammad Irhas Effendi, M.S. The keynote speakers included Admiral of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Dr. A. Octavian, S.T., M.Sc. DESD (Rector of the Defense University), and Mr. Ir. Alva Edy Tontowi, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN. Eng. (Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Gadjah Mada University).
The participants of SNTKK 2020 included practitioners, academics, and students from both inside and outside UPNVY. A total of 82 papers were presented, with 71 papers from universities, 10 from research institutions, and the rest from industries across various regions, including DIY, Central Java, West Java, East Java, and Riau Province. All the presented papers will be published in the Proceedings of the 2020 National Chemical Engineering Seminar with ISSN 1693-4393.
