The Department of Informatics, Faculty of Industrial Engineering at UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta, on Thursday, February 25, 2020, at 09:00 WIB, invited Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Achmad Benny Mutiara, SSi, SKom. (Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at Gunadarma University & Secretary General of APTIKOM) to prepare and update information regarding Research Management in the Era of the Merdeka Belajar - Kampus Merdeka Policy, especially in the field of Informatics.
In his presentation, Prof. Benny provided an example of a research activity model that could be structured according to the curriculum followed by students. According to him, students can convert Twenty (20) SKS (Semester Credit Units) into equivalency with courses offered, whose competencies align with research activities. The load of student research activities and the associated SKS during one semester is divided into three (3) main activities: Research Proposal (10% weight), Hardskill (Research implementation, Research reports, Research output) (70% weight), and Supporting Programs (soft skills) (20 SKS). These three programs, when converted into semester credit units, are equivalently expressed as 2, 14, and 4 SKS, respectively. Alternatively, research activities can also be structured according to the curriculum followed by students and can span across 2 semesters or 1 year, equating to 40 SKS (1,812 hours). The 40 SKS is stated in equivalency with the courses offered, whose competencies align with research activities. The breakdown of student research activities for two semesters is as follows:
