Chemical Engineering Student Wins 2nd Place at the CAST 2024 International Conference Organized by BRIN and RIKEN

Qoriana Zulindra, a student from the Department of Chemical Engineering at UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, won the Poster Presentation Award 2nd Winner at the international conference The 1st Conference on Accelerator-Based Science and Technology (CAST 2024), organized by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) of Indonesia in collaboration with the Rikagaku Kenkyūsho (RIKEN) of Japan. The conference took place at the B.J. Habibie Science and Technology Park (KST), Serpong, from February 19-22, 2024.

CAST 2024 was an international conference focused on accelerator technology and its applications in advanced materials and nuclear science. The conference was attended by 50 speakers and 125 senior students from 46 institutions across 9 countries.

For this prestigious event, the Department of Chemical Engineering at UPN Veteran Yogyakarta sent two students, Qoriana Zulindra and Salwa Anindhita Khansa, to present their research conducted over the past year. Qoriana Zulindra's research poster, titled “Preliminary DFT+ Calculation on Battery Systems: How Muon and Temperature Affect Crystal and Electronic Structure of LiCoO2 and LiFePO4”, won the Poster Presentation Award 2nd Winner. This research focused on the application of Density Functional Theory (DFT) in lithium battery systems, a topic that had not been published before, which garnered significant interest among CAST 2024 participants.

Qoriana’s research stood out among 40 other poster presenters, including students from S1, S2, and S3 levels across universities in Indonesia and Japan. Her exceptional work earned her the prestigious 2nd-place award at this international conference.
