Chemical Engineering Students of UPNVY Win 1st Place in the Students Entrepreneurship Competition Organized by PLN, Rumah BUMN Gunungkidul, and Bahasabisnis.id

The Ryzket team, consisting of Kalya Dinda Az-Zahra (3rd Semester), Raisa Wahyu Saputri (3rd Semester), and Melati Surya Gupita (1st Semester), under the guidance of Dr. Heri Septya Kusuma, S.Si, M.T., successfully won 1st place in the Students Entrepreneurship Competition held by PLN, Rumah BUMN Gunungkidul, and Bahasabisnis.id from January 16-29, 2024.

Ryzket is one of the results of a mini experiment (project) in the Physical Chemistry course for the 2023/2024 academic year, taught directly by Dr. Heri Septya Kusuma, S.Si, M.T. Ryzket is a biomass briquette pellet made from rice straw waste. During the mini experiment, the team created a team profile video, conducted experiments, and presented an X-banner stand. Dr. Heri explained directly: "We didn’t want the idea and results from this mini experiment in the Physical Chemistry course to only be limited to a course assignment. Therefore, we sought opportunities to continue by entering this team in the Student Entrepreneurship Competition (SEC) 2024, a business competition for students."

The first stage of selection in this competition involved submitting a business video, which included background information, product descriptions, and sustainability plans. In the final stage, the top 5 participants presented their ideas. Kalya, Raisa, and Melati presented their product using a PowerPoint presentation in front of the judges. In addition, Kalya, Raisa, and Melati also showcased the product at a booth provided by Rumah BUMN Gunungkidul, which was attended by the Deputy Regent of Gunungkidul. Thanks to the team’s skills in video editing, public speaking, and sales, they were able to secure 1st place in the competition.
