Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) of the Department of Computer Engineering

21-10-2020

As part of a series of activities proposed to support the formulation and implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) at the Department of Computer Engineering, today (Wednesday, October 21, 2020), a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held. The purpose of this activity was to review the achievements of each course outlined in the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) at the Department of Computer Engineering. This FGD activity is crucial to ensure the alignment of the curriculum with the principles of MBKM, to provide a learning experience that is more relevant to the needs of the industry.

The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Bambang Yuwono, S.T., M.T., who gave a speech about the importance of adjusting the curriculum with MBKM to create competent and industry-ready graduates. In addition, the review of the RPS also aimed to determine what certifications can be accessed by students, as supporting evidence of their competency in the relevant fields of work. These certifications will serve as an added value to help students enhance their competitiveness in the job market.

To enrich the discussion, two competent speakers were invited: Mr. Ir. Eka Indarto, M.Eng, Operations Director of PT. Sarana Insan Muda Selaras (SIMS), and Mr. Alex Budiyanto, Chairman of the Indonesian Cloud Association. These speakers provided insights into the industry's needs related to the preparation of the MBKM program, particularly regarding the types of industry internships relevant to the fields taught in the Department of Computer Engineering. It is hoped that this discussion will provide a clearer picture of how the industry views the skills required by graduates and how the department can prepare its students to be more ready to enter the workforce.
