BAN-PT Conducts Online Visit to UPNVY’s Information Systems Program

25 dan 26 September 2020

UPN Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) is undergoing accreditation for its Information Systems program, conducted online by BAN-PT on September 25-26, 2020, to ensure the program's quality and improve graduate competency. The accreditation process, a key indicator of the success of teaching and learning (input, process, output, and outcome), aims to enhance societal welfare. The accreditation is being processed via the Online Higher Education Accreditation System (SAPTO).

The Information Systems program at UPNVY follows seven accreditation standards:

  1. Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives
  2. Governance, Leadership, Management System, and Quality Assurance
  3. Student Affairs and Graduates
  4. Human Resources
  5. Curriculum, Learning Environment, and Academic Atmosphere
  6. Financing, Infrastructure, Facilities, and Information Systems
  7. Research, Community Service, and Collaboration

Initially accredited with a grade of C, the program hopes to improve its grade through this online visit. The program’s intake has increased from 40 students in its first year to 80, with plans to grow to 120, depending on faculty availability.

In the same session, the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering (FTI), UPNVY, Ir. Mahreni, MT, PhD, noted that the Information Systems program is new and has yet to graduate any students. She expressed hope that the accreditation results would improve from the minimum grade received during the program's application and contribute to Indonesia through highly qualified graduates. She emphasized the need to focus more on the field of information systems to distinguish its competencies from those in Computer Engineering.

BAN-PT assessors, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zarlis, MSc (Universitas Sumatera Utara) and Dr. Ir. Gusti Ayu Putri Saptawati, S.MComm. (Institut Teknologi Bandung), stated that the program is progressing well but needs further focus on refining its vision and mission. The assessment aims to improve the quality of the program, faculty, and institution as a whole.
