Mendeley Training for FTI Lecturers
05-07-2020
On Monday, October 21, the Faculty of Industrial Engineering at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta held a Mendeley training session in the Informatics Seminar Room for lecturers within the FTI environment. The aim of this training was to assist lecturers in learning reference management using Mendeley, an Open Source reference management application that can be accessed for free. Mendeley allows lecturers, researchers, and students to manage academic documents and references more efficiently, supporting research and academic writing activities. This event is expected to enhance lecturers' skills in using technology to support the teaching and learning process.
FTI invited Andri Pranolo, a lecturer from the Informatics Engineering Program at UAD, to provide intensive guidance on account registration, installation of Mendeley Desktop, managing academic references, and creating citations and bibliographies using Mendeley. He explained that citations are an integral part of academic writing. Often, writers are careless when citing sources, resulting in incorrect citation formats. By using Mendeley, such issues can be minimized.
Through this training, it is hoped that lecturers within the FTI environment can improve the quality of their written work through better management of academic references. With a deeper understanding of how to use Mendeley, lecturers are expected to be more effective in preparing citations and bibliographies, ensuring that their scientific work is well-structured and adheres to academic standards. This improvement will not only benefit lecturers but also students who can learn from good examples.
